Common questions

What is the minimum I need to start a home gym?
Honestly, $70–100 covers the basics: a good exercise mat ($30), resistance bands ($40) and a jump rope ($15). That is enough for a full-body workout. Add adjustable dumbbells when budget allows and you have everything 80% of people need.
Are adjustable dumbbells worth the cost?
Yes — if your budget allows it. A pair of fixed dumbbells in 5 different weights costs $300–500 and takes up a lot of space. Adjustable dumbbells do the same job for $150–250 in one compact unit. They are the single best value purchase for a home gym.
Do I need rubber flooring?
Not essential, but highly recommended if you are lifting weights. Rubber tiles protect hardwood or tile floors from dropped weights, reduce noise, and give you better grip. Essential in a garage or basement; useful but optional in a carpeted room.
What equipment is best for seniors or bad knees?
Resistance bands, adjustable dumbbells and a stationary bike or rowing machine are all joint-friendly. Avoid high-impact exercises (box jumps, running on hard floors). Bodyweight exercises on a mat are also excellent — lunges, modified squats and glute bridges put minimal stress on joints.
